If I Could Turn Back Time..

As I was resetting the clocks in my house this morning, I realized that this is truly the only time in your life that you can turn back time. My mind being what it is (as in constantly distracted by "shiny things"), I started thinking about what I would do differently if I could rewind.

If I could turn back time, would I change anything in my life - good or bad? Would  I trade my experiences - good or bad - for different ones? Would I change my life at all?

"We are who we are" because in our life "It is what it is" (and other appropriate cliches  - "Life is not a dress rehearsal," "You've but one life to live,"  "Never look back."). That makes the world of "What If" a dark one, and frankly not worth the energy pursuing. I'm convinced there is some cosmic Karma that brings us to any moment. The question is not what we did in the past, or how we'd change it - or what would happen if we actually could - but it's about what course we'll chart with the information we have. This is what will affect our future ... which then becomes our past...so we can look back...(okay, my brain hurts).

So, as I turned back my clocks to meet the convention of Standard Time, I realized there is no such thing as standard time. I didn't gain anything; I didn't lose anything. I didn't waste time, kill time, have downtime or find myself with time on my hands.

Bottom line: I wouldn't trade my time, my experience or my life with anyone else. Good, bad or whatever normal means to me, I'm fine with the here and now and excited to see what the next "Here and Now" will bring. I'm looking forward to it!

  1. "it's about what course we'll chart with the information we have"

What a great turn of phrase. Thanks for inspiring, as always.
